I have had the same spot regime to control my acne out breaks for the last 3 years. I have tried many other techniques and procedures but found the regime below to be the best spot regimen for my skin.

I just wanted to share my spot regime to enable others to deal with there acne. I don’t guarantee that my regimen will work for you i only state what spot treatment worked for me to aid in my acne challenge.

I tried PanOxyl the 5% Acne Gel which is alcohol based this works fairly well, its also available as a 10% solution.

The only set back is that being paroxide, it can bleach your clothes, Stings your eyes and generally leave a burning sensation in sensitive acne areas etc.

I then some times used to apply Acnecide, which is relatively the same, available in 4 different types.

Then i tried Zineryt, you have to get it on a prescription, its a liquid in a bottle with an applicator.

for my spot regime that works i currently use Nicam Gel this works the best.
- It is a very easy to apply cream that does not bleach clothes.
- You are supposed to use it morning and night but my mind some times forgets. I usually only apply it at night, then wash it off in the morning.

My spot regimen is as follows.

5 nights per week i apply the Nicam gel following the exact specifications i always give my skin a clear 2 days of 0 spot or acne treatments this i think is what really helps. Giving my skin a chance to breathe.

Every morning i wash my face using water with a few drops of lavender hand wash mixed in i NEVER apply the soap direct to my face.

I use a flannel (face towel) to gentle massage the spot / acne prone areas.

This is my spot regime and i hope it helps

i have deep scarring from acne on my neck which has left deep craters that are very visible especially in the summer as during winter i wear jumpers to cover up the scarring.

i have a multitude of blackheads and red spot ion my forhead, i wear alot of hair products such as gel and hairspray could these be causing the acne and blackheads.

I have suffered with adult acne for many years and it doesnt give up it fights past everything i have tried. The acne that has cleared through persistant trial and error has left huge deep pit scarring around my cheeks and nose.

Im looking for a acne – spot product that has been proven to give results, i currently use make up to hide the scarring but would welcome other ideas on hiding my crater scars.

compulsive nail biting causing acneNail biting and Acne sufferers are aware that hormonal changes can wreak havoc in the body, producing breakouts of acne on the face and other areas of the body.  Most people are not aware that acne can also be caused by a great number of other factors as well.  In most cases not hormonally related, acne occurs due to bacterial exposure and irritation.

A link between habitual nail biting and acne

Any number of things can trigger the onset of a habitual nail biting and acne breakouts and many have nothing to do with how well someone washes their face each day or the amount of oil present in their skin.  Something as innocuous as toothpaste can cause acne to occur around the mouth.  Some toothpaste brands contain a compound known as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, or SLS, that can cause irritation around the mouth, triggering an acne breakout.  Some studies indicate that fluoride can cause a similar reaction in some people.

It becomes easy to see that small amounts of stimulation or irritation can cause a breakout to occur.  This connection between slight irritation and acne breakouts brings us to the habitual nail biting and Acne link.  The fingernails carry a host of bacteria that can cause a great deal of irritation to the skin especially around the mouth and nose.  When you bite your nails, you transfer some of the bacteria to your mouth and lips.

SO WHATS the habitual nail biting and acne link ?

let us explain:

Typically, the mucous membrane areas of the face are more easily affected and irritated than others. What you might be unaware of is that when you nibble on your finger nails your scrathing the membrane area. Normally our finger nails smooth out as they grow but when bitten they become very sharp.

This makes the areas around the mouth, the most affected area due to the high concentration of mucous membranes.  When you bite your nail the the bacteria harbouring under and around the fingernails comes into contact with the skin, irritation (scratching) begins and acne forms as a result.  Even if the bacteria under the nails do not affect the skin, the small and light touch of the other fingers around the nose and mouth can cause enough irritation and bacteria transfer to prompt a breakout.

More information has become available in the past several years suggesting that habitual nail biting and acne might be linked in another way.  For those adolescents and adults who bite their nails uncontrollably and suffer from acne, research suggests it might be an indicator of a more serious underlying medical condition.  In some cases, an imbalance in the body’s hormones can trigger the urge to bite the fingernails and even toenails.  This same imbalance of hormones can result in the formation of acne as well.

Is there any way to cure my compulsive nail biting and acne ?

Some people who bite their nails frequently have found help from psychiatrists and medications for many psychiatric disorders.  In many cases, the patient also suffered from persistent acne.  In some situations, the medication prescribed to treat the nail biting disorder seemed to minimize or eliminate the acne due to the fact they had stopped irritating the areas.  This suggests that there may be a link to the medications prescribed and relief from nail biting and acne.

More study and research is necessary before an accurate determination can be made.  Some say the stress on the body that suffers some sort of psychiatric disorder, like nail biting, can cause enough hormonal imbalance that people begin having acne breakouts.  Those suffering from acne and nail biting will need to be patient with the current regimen of treatments until the testing is completed, and the data conclusive.

My Top Natural Ways of Clearing Spots

Spots on your face or any other part of your body can be an irritating problem, there are many natural ways of clearing spotsbut for now i will stick to just three. If they are not treated on time it can lead to other problems like frustration, low esteem and loss of confidence etc. But if you are determined and need to have a clear, beautiful and vibrant skin you can use some natural ways to clear the spots.

Though there are many over-the-counter products in the market they may or may not be suitable for all. Everyone has different kinds of skin texture. Some may even have sensitive skin that can become allergic to these products. Such people must use  the natural ways of clearing spots. Given below are 3 natural ways of clearing spots from home. The best thing about clearing the spots naturally is that most of the ingredients used are available in your kitchen itself, things like baking soda, apple cider vinegar, egg whites, oatmeal, tea tree oil, pantothenic acid and aloe vera can be used for effectively removing acne.

Apple cider vinegar: This ingredient is very effective in clearing the spots naturally. It has the ability to kill the bacteria causing acne, balance the pH of your skin and absorb all the extra oil present on the skin. Mix one part of the vinegar to eight parts of water. Clean the areas with cotton dipped in water and then apply the diluted mixture with the help of a cotton ball.

Some people even recommend using a stronger mixture of three parts water to one part vinegar. Rinse well after 10 minutes of applying the mixture. If you do not have vinegar, try lime or lemon juice instead. Both are good sources of vitamin c with the capacity to exfoliate the skin. they also prevents the growth of acne spots.

Egg whites: Another simple way of clearing spots naturally is by using egg whites. They are very useful for healing and rebuilding the skin. To use the egg white, break an egg, separate the yolk from the white and keep in a separate bowl. Apply the egg white on the affected areas directly leaving it for at least 15 minutes then washing it off with plain water.

Aloe vera: Aloe vera is found in most of the gardens or from local chemists. It is used in many natural ways of clearing acne as it is very useful for healing and improving the texture of the skin and is one of the major ingredients in most of the skin care products. Aloe vera is also used for healing burns and other skin problems. It is used for removing wrinkles, reducing scars, age spots and treating acne. Apply directly on the affected areas at least three times daily. Leave for 20 minutes then  rinse off.

By following these 3 natural ways of clearing spots you will be able to get rid of acne and pimples very quickly without any side effects like some of the ready made products. Though the natural ways of clearing spots are sure shots for curing the acne they may take some time to show the results. Try to consume a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water to help prevent the formation of spots.

Hello. How long do i keep the Overnight Serum on when i sleep because when i first put it on it did not work. Please send me an answer.

I was wondering what spot cream actually works i have tried many different types of spot cream but none seem to work for me.

I have mild acne usually centered around my temple area so the skin is fairly sensitive most spot creams tend to make the skin go flaky.
